Music has been a huge influence on my life affecting the attitude and style of who I am as an artist and designer. Through my formative years music and the musicians and artists who performed it would shape and mold what would become the foundation of my design aesthetic, fostering in it a bold rebellious spirit of independence which has become  a running theme throughout my life.

From a very young age I had a fascination with the glamour, beauty and allure of Early Hollywood and show business through seeing  pictures of my mother and her telling me stories of growing up around Hollywood and show business in the 1930’s and 40's.

My grandfather Bruce Carruthers was a decorated Canadian Monty Policeman who moved to Los Angeles in the 1920’s becoming a technical Director on many films through the 1920’s to 1940’s.

My mother growing up in this atmosphere ,working for a famous wigmaker for the stars, began down a path of a modeling and acting career which showed early success doing screen tests and modeling in L.A. and NYC.  She ended her pursuit of this career that had so much promise after being swept off her feet by a dashing Naval Pilot who she would eventually marry that was my father.

This glamour and beauty shown to me through my mothers eyes of an early Hollywood with such an authentic feel and look has never left me and its spirit is an inspiration to create designs that try to capture the essence of Hollywood and a by gone era my mother loved and grew up in.
